The Yorkshire Rainforest Project

Trees for Life

African lady with watering can. Trees ready for planting in Africa. In 1990 our family business, Bettys & Taylors of Harrogate, launched its ‘Trees for Life’ appeal with a promise to plant one million trees around the world – for us it was a good way of both helping the environment and giving something back to the communities we depend upon for our tea and coffee.

We’ve supported projects in 10 countries
Since those early days, with the support of our customers and staff we’ve planted 3 million trees around the world. We’ve planted trees in exchange for tokens saved from our Yorkshire Tea packs; we’ve donated funds from our profits to support tree planting and conservation charities; and we’ve planted a tree every time a member of staff has a baby. Working with charities such as Oxfam, the Woodland Trust, Tree Aid and the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, we’ve supported projects in 10 countries – including Ethiopia, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Peru as well as here in the UK.
