The Yorkshire Rainforest Project

The Rainforest Foundation UK

Ashaninka celebrationsFor the next three years we’re working with the Rainforest Foundation UK to save an area of rainforest larger than the Yorkshire Dales – over 184,000 hectares.

‘Guardians of the Rainforest'
Founded in 1989, the Rainforest Foundation UK tackles deforestation globally and locally. Globally, the Rainforest Foundation UK campaigns to influence local and international laws to protect rainforests and their inhabitants. Locally the charity helps rainforest communities fulfil their century old role as ‘Guardians of the Rainforest’, ensuring they have the legal title to the land that has been their home for generations; the ability to challenge the incursions of logging companies and have access to sustainable livelihoods, education and healthcare. Today the Rainforest Foundation UK is supporting projects in 20 countries worldwide.

You are helping us make a huge difference...
Simon Counsell, the Executive Director of the Rainforest Foundation UK, has been on the front line of campaigns to protect the world’s forests for two decades. Simon tells us: “For the next 20 years we’ve set ourselves a target of protecting a further one million square kilometres of rainforest – and we’re delighted that Bettys & Taylors is helping us get off to such a good start with support for our project in Peru. A very big thank you – you are helping us make a huge difference!”
